Since we’re talking about artists who deserve endless superlatives we cannot let this day go by without discussing Brooklyn, NY’s The Damnwells. From 2003 – 2015 the quartet did not release an album that was not a critical darling (and for good reason). This was heartland rock at its absolute finest.
The band’s chase for stardom was even the subject of a fantastic 2007 documentary. When the band called it quits in 2015 so frontman Alex Dezen could focus on his solo career it felt like a heavy day. One of those moments where the adage “All good things must come to an end” felt most appropriate. Or was it?
Ealier this week, the quartet launched a Kickstarter campaign and it might just be the most exciting piece of music news of 2024. Okay sure, the new year is only six weeks new, but a new Damnwells album is everything we could ask for and more. Now go donate and get this album funded!
