Nineties-pop heavyweights Matchbox Twenty (MB20) have launched a live MP3 project for their current Australia / New Zealand Slow Dream tour. The band is recording audio from each concert and full show, audio-only downloads will be made avaialble within 48 hours of the end of that recorded show. To pre-order shows and participate head here.
All live shows will be delivered in Mp3 format, compressed into a ZIP file. All prices are in U.S. currency. Orders received in Australia or other foreign currency may be subject to buyer’s bank’s currency exchange fees.
The live show MP3 concept is not new to the band, in fact MB20 has been doing it since the Exile on Mainstream tour in 2010. They also launched the project for their recently wrapped up U.S. tour, with those dates being made into CD’s for purchase. The band has noted that there is a backlog on CDs for purchase and those that are still waiting on their orders to be fulfilled to maintain patience.
Matchbox Twenty heads into 2024 with momentum. Blockbuster film Barbie introduced younger audiences to the band’s ubiquitous 90s hit
“Push” and the band’s Australia / New Zealand tour is selling quite well. Last year’s album Where The Light Goes was a nostalgic slice of jangle-pop that still resonates months after cursory first listens. Whether a follow up to Where the Light Goes is in the works remains to be seen but for now, it’s a good day to be a Matchbox Tweny fan
