Since we’re on the 90s pop rock angle it should be noted that Counting Crows have launched a co-headlining tour with Santana. Billed as the Oneness Tour it kicks off June 14 in Hollywood, FL and wraps up Sept. 2 in Phoenix, AZ. Tickets go on sale this Friday Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. EST.
Of all the bands Counting Crows could have shared a bill with this one is in a word: puzzling. At the same time Santana is a must-see live act with incredible musicianship and high energy. That’s a recipe that Adam Duritz and company have used at their live shows for more than three decades. Come to think of it this might just be one of the better nights of live music one could hope for in 2024.
The real bummer though might be that Counting Crows have not released new music since their fantastic 2021 EP Butter Miracle Suite One. How about Butter Miracle Suite Two? Is that too much to ask, Adam?
Other than the 2023 single “Almost Woke You Up” (a duet with Stephen Kellogg) the band has been fairly quiet when it comes to new music. They remain steadfast on the touring angle but new music appears to be too few and far between. Perhaps they’ll surprise us by year’s end.
Here’s hoping!
