Birmingham, AL singer-songwriter Matthew Mayfield dropped his new single “Belle of the Ball” today. The song is the first single from his upcoming studio album Prizefighter. Mayfield is the former frontman of alt-rock outfit Moses Mayfield before they disbanded in 2008.

The last sixteen years have seen Mayfield five albums and seven EPs. Mayfield’s last release was the 2019 LP Gun Shy. To coincide with the Gun Shy release, Mayfield released a podcast called Inside the Song With Matthew Mayfield. To date he has shared the stages with the likes of Blue October, Needtobreathe, Garrison Starr, Will Hoge, Matthew Perryman Jones and others. To date his music has been compared to heavyweights like Ryan Adams, Jason Isbell, Bruce Springsteen, Eddie Vedder and Damien Rice. If that sounds appealing to you, give Mayfield a listen.
