New England indie-pop quartet Guster has announced their first new album in five years. Entitld Ooh La La the album is scheduled for a May 17 release via the band’s own Ocho Mule Records. To coincide with the album announcement Guster has released two singles with accompanying music videos. “Keep Going” is a twinkling and luminous mid-tempo cut that meanders through a luxuriant bed of swelling piano, hissing synths and nimble guitars. On the contrary “All Day” is a languid and hazy cut that ends far too soon.

In addition to the Ooh La La announcement Guster is set to embark on their cleverly titled We Also Have Eras Tour, which begins next Thursday in Austin, TX. The quartet will also perform the 25th anniversary concert of 1999’s Lost and Gone Forever at the band’s own On the Ocean Festival in August. Prior to that, the Aug. 1 date of the Lost And Gone Forever anniversary concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater will feature the Colorado Symphony and is already sold out.

Ooh La La is the band’s ninth album and was produced by Josh Kaufman (The National, The Hold Steady) in Woodstock, NY’s Isokon Studios. Ron Aniello (Bruce Springsteen, Matt Nathanson, Barenaked Ladies) who worked with the band on Keep It Together and Ganging Up on the Sun, also adds production work as does Rich Costey (The Killers, Vampire Wekeend, HAIM).

Of the album frontman Ryan Miller says the following: “Most of these songs were written against the backdrop of what felt like an apocalypse. It was such a transformative time, and we were dealing with a lot of existential questions about what it means to be a father, a husband, a creative person in the midst of all the chaos.”
