GRAMMY Award winning singer-songwriter Shelby Lynne announced today that she has signed with Shane McAnally‘s Monument Records. In addition to signing to the label Lynne also announced she has partnered with Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town who will become a collaborator, manager and producer of Lynne’s new album, which is due out later this year. Said album is also being co-produced by Ashley Monroe and Gena Johnson.
To celebrate this new partnership Monument Records also has plans to reissue Lynne’s breakthrough album I Am Shelby Lynne in honor of its 25th anniversary. A limited edition vinyl of the album is due out early this summer.
Of the partnership with Lynne, Fairchild said the following: “It feels important to reintroduce Shelby Lynne’s genius to a fresh wave of artists and fans. I’m blown away by her profound knowledge of music and the enormity of her talent. Shelby’s uniqueness lies in her extraordinary capacity to delve into human pain and beauty through her powerful voice and storytelling.”
Released in April of 1999, the Bill Botrell-produced I Am Shelby Lynne led to the songwriter being named Best New Artist at the GRAMMY Awards that year. Lynne was famous for her acceptance speech, in which she noted that she wasn’t exactly a new artist but was humbled by the award. Lynne’s debut record came 10 years prior. In between that release and the GRAMMY, she netted award of Top New Female Vocalist at the 26th annual ACM Awards.
