Singer-songwiter Dustin Kensrue has dropped new single “High Scalers” a love letter to the construction of the Hoover Dam. “High Scalers” is the lead single from his alt-country effort Desert Dreaming, a concept album of sorts that is a valentine to the American Southwest.
Desert Dreaming is due out April 5 via BMG. Self-produced by Kensrue the album features upright bassist Seth Richardson (Moonsville Collective), pedal steel guitarist Abe Levy and drummer James McAlister. Kensrue is also the frontman for post-hardcore/emo outfit Thrice who has forged a formidable and impressive solo career.
His last solo effort, Thoughts That Float on a Different Blood, a covers album, came out in 2016. Carry the Fire from 2015 was his last studio album of original material. Desert Dreaming will be his fifth solo album, with each one stronger than its predecessor. Here’s hoping it continues that trend.
The track list for the album can be seen below:
- Death Valley Honeymoon (feat. Cat Clyde)
- High Scalers
- Treasure in the West
- Lift Your Eyes
- Western Skies
