There is nothing better than getting a press release from a band you’ve never heard of and then finding out that band is all sorts of awesome. Such is the case with Magic Fig, a synth-based psych-pop outfit from San Francisco. Their self-titled debut album is due out on Silver Current Records on May 17. The album is produced by Joel Robinow of Howlin’ Rain and Once + Future Band and was recorded at Santo Studios in Oakland, CA last year.

Magic Fig dropped debut single “Goodbye Suzy” and its accompanying video today and holy wow it shreds like woah. There’s a tinge of prog-rock, a tinge of garage pop, a tinge of alt-rock, a tinge of synth-pop and man alive, Inna Showalter’s vocals are no joke. Without a doubt this is our song of the day. Consider me stoked for May 17.

Magic Fig is:
Inna Showalter: vocals
Muzzy Moskowitz: guitar
Taylor Giffin: drummer
Jon Chaney: keys
Matthew Ferrara: bass
