Tahlequah, OK’s Turnpike Troubadours have raised nearly $175k for the Texas Panhandle Wildfire Relief Fund. The money was raised at a special benefit concert at Cooks Garage in Lubbock, TX last week. The event also featured singer-songwriter Red Shahan. The money raised will go directly to local farmers and ranchers who were affected by last month’s wildfires.
The fundraiser is just the latest milestone for Turnpike Troubadours. Their new album A Cat in the Rain, produced by Shooter Jennings, had a career-best first week of sales and landed on many year-end Best of 2023 lists. Outlets who loved the album included but is not limited to: Associated Press, Rolling Stone, The AV Club, Brooklyn Vegan, No Depression and Whiskey Riff. A Cat in the Rain was their first album since their self-imposed 2019 hiatus.
The positive momentum from A Cat in the Rain also helped land the band their first late-night TV debut where they performed “Mean Old Sun” on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Additionally, the band is slated for a two-night stop at Red Rocks Amphitheater in May and will be supporting Zach Bryan on his stadium tour later this year.
To date, the Troubadours have garnered 1.5 billion global streams. Since their 2005 debut the band has relased five studio albums. Last fall they were inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame.
