Americana duo Surrender Hill have announced their new album River of Tears will be released on June 14. The couple’s multi-genre, multi-cultural approach to songwriting has been lauded by the likes of American Songwriter. River of Tears will be released via the band’s own Blue Betty Reords and is the duo’s seventh album. Surrender Hill has said that the album came as a result of trying to process the loss of loved ones.

Surrender Hill is comprised of husband and wife Robin Dean Salmon and Afton Seekins Salmon. Robin, who is originally from South Africa, made his way to Texas before meeting Afton, who hails from Alaska. River of Tears was recorded at Blue Betty Studio in their hometown of Ellijay, GA. Robin produced, engineered and mixed the album alongside GRAMMY Award winning engineer Joe Smith, who provided additional mixing.

On the album Robin plays lead guitar while Afton provides vocals and percussion. They are joined in the studio by Jonathan Callicutt on guitar, Matt Crouse on drums, Mike Daly on steel guitar and dobro, Eric Fritsch on organ, Drew Lawson on bass, Kevin Thomas on organ and Mike Waldron on guitar.

River of Tears comes on the heels of Surrender Hill’s song “Sunshine and Silver Linings” being nominated for American Songwriter’s 2022 Song of the Year.
