British psych-rockers Kula Shaker have announced two new singles out today across all digital streaming platforms. “Rational Man” and “Bringing It Back Home” are also avaialble as double A-side limited edition 7-inch single dubbed Peace Wheel. The peace-themed songs were recorded at London’s famed RAK Studios, where the band recorded much of their multi-platinum selling debut album K. Both tracks were mixed by Ash Howes who also mixed their new album Natural Magick. The limited edition 7-inch single will be available in gold smoke effect vinyl.
Of the new single, songwriter and bass player Alonza Bevan says: “Our approach to the the double A-side is like two sides of the human brain. “Rational Man” is about an every day guy who has a brain and struggles to find some reasonable sanity in the world. “Bringing it Back Home” is about the search for a spiritual solution.”
Frontman Crispian Mills adds: “Bringing It Back Home features the famous Indian kirtan chant Radha Ramana Hari bol” so it is fitting and auspicious that it was recorded in the same room we recorded “Govinda” all those years ago.”
Kula Shaker will make its much-anticipated return to North America with a headlining date at Brooklyn Bowl in New York City on July 25.
The band’s new album, their seventh, Natural Magick, has received acclaim from British press and was released digitally worlwide on Feb. 2 via the bnad’s own Strange Folk Records. CD and vinyl are available via BFD / The Orchard. Natural Magick finds all four original band memers reunited for the first time in 25 years, with the return of keyboard wizard Jay Darlington after a decade with both Oasis and the Gallagher brothers. The album was produced by Kula Shaker frontman Crispian Mills, as well as co-writer and bassist Alonza Bevan and Kevin Nixon.
