Washington, D.C native Nate Bergman (former frontman of alt-rock outfit Lionize) has announced a new UK tour supporting singer-songwriter Amigo the Devil. In addition to the European tour, he has also announced a new single “Wish I Was” which will drop on May 29 and is now available for pre-save on all digital streaming platforms. Bergman notes the song was recorded at Bomb Shelter Studio in Nashville, TN live on 2-inch tape, without computers or digital editing. The track was produced by himself and Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Langhorne Slim, Margo Price, Hurray for the Riff Raff). The personnel on the song include: Meg Coleman (Jenny Lewis band) on drums, Jack Lawrence (of the Racounteurs) on bass and Jo Schornikow (of Phopsphorescent) on piano and hammond organ. “Wish I Was” is the second song released this year by Bergman. At the start of the year he released the near-perfect “Back to Nashville” about his new adopted hometown.

Bergman, who opened for emo stalwarts Thursday in 2022, possesses one of the more flawless vocals this writer has ever heard in a live setting. That opening slot for Thursday was one of the more eye-opening and jaw-dropping sets this writer has experienced in more than 25+ years of attending live concerts It was in many ways, a vocal tour de force and a watershed moment. Bergman’s debut album Metaphysical Change, released via Velocity Records in the spring of 2022, was one of the best albums released that year. If this is your first time hearing about Bergman, do yourself a favor and listen to Metaphysical Change. You’ll be glad you did, I guarantee it.
