Country music superstar Lainey Wilson has announced her new album Whirlwind is due out in August. The album can be pre-saved and pre-ordered here.

In the press release about the album Wilson said the following: “Whirlwind. That’s what my life has been the last couple years. I hope this record brings peace to your “whirlwind” and wraps its arms around you like it did me when I was writing and recording it.”

Wilson has been the It Girl in country music for the last 3-4 years. Her 2020 breakthrough single “Things a Man Oughta Know” very much thrust her into the spotlight and she has not slowed down since. She’s even crossed over to the silver screen appearing in season five of the hit TV show Yellowstone. She’s also garnered ACM, CMA and GRAMMY Awards.

Her discography has few, if any, filler songs, dating back to her 2016 album Tougher. Her success however is not overnight. Wilson has been making music since her debut EP Country Girls Rule in 2008 but it was not until her 2019 EP Redneck Hollywood on Broken Bow Records and produced by Jay Joyce that Wilson’s career arc took flight. Her most recent album Bell Bottom Country, much like its predecessor Sayin’ What I’m Thinkin‘, was truly fantastic.

I’m pretty confident Whirwlind will follow suit. And lastly, for those who have yet to see her live, do yourself a favor and make that a priority. This writer was fortunate enough to see her in 2020 at the Beaufort Water Festival in Beaufort, SC and the performance was revelatory and downright hypnotic. She’s worth the hype. I’ll be counting down the days until Whirwind‘s release on Aug. 23.
