The late, great singer-songwriter John Prine will be honored at the Festival Square Benefit Concert in Central City, KY on June 14. The benefit concert will feature the likes of the John Prine Band, Billy Prine and Kelsey Waldon. Festival square is a tribute concert that honors not just Prine but also The Everly Brothers.
Both Prine and The Everly Brothers helped launch the Central City Music Festival/Everly Brothers Homecoming from 1988 to 2002. Both Prine and the Everly Brothers are credited with saving Central City and Muhlenberg County from financial ruin by organizing the festival. As a thank you for that gesture, a bronze, life-size statue of Prine and The Everly Brothers will be unveiled at the concert at 2 p.m. CST. Festival Square will be held at the Lu-Ray Park Amphitheater. Tickets go on sale for the concert tomorrow.
