New York City-based singer-songwriter Craig Finn (of The Hold Steady) has announced two solo tours this fall, first in Europe in September and followed by a run of U.S dates in November. The dates are an extension of Finn’s This is What It Looks Like tour which took place earlier this year. In a press release about the tour, Finn has promised songs from all five of his solo albums and the stories behind each of them. He has also promised to debut some new songs as well. Finn’s last studio release was 2022’s A Legacy of Rentals. All of his solo albums are phenomenal but this writer is partial to 2015’s Faith in the Future.

Canadian singer-songwriter Kathleen Edwards will join Finn for the European dates. Edwards will also appear as a guest on Finn’s podcast That’s How I Remember It, which will be recorded in between cities on his European tour.

At present Finn is without question one of America’s finest modern day singer-songwriters. Between his critically acclaimed work with Lifter Puller, The Hold Steady and now his solo career he has a narrative style of writing that is more literary fiction than pop music. And that’s what him so darn compelling. Never afraid to veer into weighty subject matters he is equal parts verbose and vast. There’s little in his songwriting he has yet to cover, but if there is something he has yet to ponder, give him another album or two, and he’ll probably tackle it. He’s also a first-rate live performer (both solo and with The Hold Steady) and as humble and unassuming as one might expect from a native Midwesterner.

Tickets are on sale now for both tours and can be purchased here.
