Pittsburgh-based singer-songwriter Bill Deasy has announced he’s at work on a new album. In a recent newsletter, Deasy noted that the album which is tentatively titled Work in Progress (how clever!) and is already eight songs deep. Deasy is working with local drummer/engineer Tyler Thompson, Justin Mazer on electric guitar and Dave Shepherd on bass.

Work in Progress will be Deasy’s 13th solo studio album and Deasy is quite excited. Of the album he wrote: “I am so excited by the songs and the sounds and the approach and the shape it is taking under Tyler’s guidance. I have never made a record quite the way we are making tihs one and it is thrilling and really fun.”

For those in the Steel City, Deasy and The Gathering Field will play at Big Rail Brewing in Grove City on Aug. 31.

In addition to his plentiful solo work, Deasy has also released six Gathering Field albums and two albums with the duo project Thomas Jefferson’s Aeroplane. Deasy is also an accomplished novelist and has written three novels.

Anyone unfamiliar with Deasy or The Gathering Field should use this post as permission to dive down that rabbit hole and enjoy. This writer does not know many lyricists or songwriters better than Deasy.

The remainder of Deasy’s 2024 tour dates can be seen below:
