Iconoclastic Nashville-based singer-songwriter Derek Webb has announced the final run of his It All Matters After All tour. The tour is anchored in Webb’s recollection of his time in the influential faith-based collective Caedmon’s Call. The two-hour show features songs, stories and Webb’s look back at the band and how it launched his current career.
Webb has been something of a lightning rod since leaving Caedmon’s Call some two decades ago and embarking on a solo career but Webb did reunite with the band to re-record their near-perfect self-titled breakthrough album.
For all the rabble-rousing and teeth-gnashing he continues to enjoy, his time in Caedmon’s Call is something this writer has always found winning. Between “Bus Driver”, “Standing Up For Nothing” and “Center Aisle” Webb wrote three of the most important songs of this writer’s formative years. Not surprisingly, those songs and dozens of other still hold up today. And while his solo career has been hit and miss, he’s still releasing music that is equal parts provocative, passionate and poignant.
