Richmond, VA roots-rockers Carbon Leaf have rescheduled their Feb. 21 Virginia Beach show at Elevation 27 to Thursday June 5. In addition, the quintet has rescheduled their Feb. 22 Leesburg show at the Tally Ho Theater to Friday May 30. The band’s March 14 Huntington, WV show at The Loud has been cancelled. Lastly, the band’s March 15 show at the Lexington, KY St. Patrick’s Parade and Festival has been cancelled.

Previously purchased tickets for both the Virginia Beach and Leesburg shows will be honored for the new dates and refunds are also available from place of purchase.

The changes in tour dates are a result of rhythm guitarist Terry Clark falling on ice while making repairs to the band’s gear trailer earlier this year. The accident led to a torn rotator cuff in two places. Clark will need surgery and recuperation and as such the band is back home in Virginia recuperating, rehearsing and awaiting their spring tour which starts back up in April.

Carbon Leaf is currently touring in support of their engaging nostalgia-laden album Time is the Playground, released last fall. Stepping away from their traditional roots-based approach, the album veers more towards indie-rock and shares many of the trappings of the band’s breakthrough albums Indian Summer and that album’s follow up Love Loss Hope Repeat, both of which were released on Vanguard Records.

Since parting with Vanguard in 2009 the band has self-released each of their last seven albums, including three reissues of their three albums released with Vanguard Records. Carbon Leaf recently wrapped up a Southeast tour that sure enough came through Orlando last month. And while this writer regrets not seeing that Orlando show there is hope the band will return to Central Florida in due course. With the band already booked for The Rock Boat 25th anniversary cruise in early 2026, there just might be a Central Florida gig in the future. Fingers crossed.

For those of you who have yet to see Carbon Leaf in concert, it is highly recommended that you do so should they be in your town in the near or distant future. Blending folk, bluegrass, celtic and indie-rock and more the band is halfway through their fourth decade making music and Clark’s injury aside, they seem to show no signs of slowing down.
