As the turmoil and turbulence continues to unfold in the streets of Minneapolis, some recording artists are taking to the studio to share their voice. Foremost of those is Bruce Springsteen who recently released “Streets of Minneapolis.” While “Minneapolis” is not nearly as sterling as the ubiquitous “Streets of Philadelphia” it’s a shout of support and a rallying cry and one that resonates deeply here at GCV. Word is Trump has already heard it and dislikes it, so we know it’s doing the Lord’s work.

Not to be outdone, folk stalwart Billy Bragg has released “City of Heroes” to honor and celebrate the protestors in Minneapolis. And truth be told, this is probably our favorite of the bunch.

Elsewhere, folk-Americana-country-gospel outfit Delta Rae have released: “Pretti and Good” to eulogize Alex Pretti and Renee Good accordingly. And lastly, My Morning Jacket have released the charity album Peacelands, a collection of cover songs and originals with proceeds benefitting: ACLU, Doctors Without Borders and the International Rescue Committee.

And for local Minnesotans, there’s a handful of indie artists going about it on a more grassroots level.

More songs will likely be released and perhaps they can be added accordingly, but for now, the people of Minnesota have a few songs worth holding on to in the days and weeks ahead.
