Since I’m on the topic of concert festivals I wish I’d attend, here’s another:
On Saturday June 27, in partnership with WXPN and the Upper Merion Township, Heuser Park in King if Prussia, PA will host Dar William’s fourth annual River Roads Music Festival. The lineup features festival founder Dar Williams and 10,000 Maniacs as headliners with support from the likes of: Billy Bragg, Shawn Colvin, Susan Werner, Miko Marks and Amythyst Kiah. I know! It’s that damn good of a lineup. Gosh I wish I could attend. Same deal. Gosh I haven’t seen Dar Williams in nearly three decades. That’s far too long.
Pre-sale for the festival starts now. Festival tickets need the pre-sale code: CHOCOLATECAKE
Williams begins a lengthy tour starting tomorrow at Englert Theater in Iowa City, IA and she’ll be on the road through May. Later this fall, she’ll head abroad to Ireland and the UK for a series of dates.
10,000 Maniacs begins a tour March 19 as part of a four-day residency at the Egyptian Theater in Park City. A four-day residency at the Birchmere in Alexandria, VA follows in April. The band does find themselves in Florida (fingers crossed) in May and then has a stop at SummerFest in Milwaukee two days before River Roads kicks off.
So as not to slight the rest of them, please note that Billy Bragg is not touring until River Roads, Shawn Colvin is currently on tour in the Midwest (Ohio tonight, Michigan next), Susan Werner begins a tour next weekend in Michigan, Miko Marks has only a handful of West Coast dates beginning in April and Amythyst Kiah begins a tour next week in Washington, D.C.
All in all, River Roads is going to slay and this writer wishes badly he could be there. Somebody livestream it or grab me a t-shirt.
